• Certifications and Licensure REQ: BLS, HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC)

  • Position/Specialty: Histology Tech
  • This position works on the MUSC Charleston campus. No floating required.
  • Histotechnologist - Under direct supervision performs routine and complex histologic procedures including, processing, embedding, microtomy, routine and special stains, and immunohistochemistry. Performs quality control on completed slides. Identifies problems that may affect diagnosis and results. Records observations from tests. Documents maintenance of instruments and equipment used in the lab. Complies with established laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season, all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams. Hurricane season runs from June through November each year. The peak months for hurricane activity are August and September.

    • Experience REQ: 3-5 years full time experience
    • Experience REQ: Embedding and Microtomy skills
    • First-timers accepted: Yes
    • Certifications and Licensure REQ: BLS, HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC)
    • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in histotechnology, biology, or other related scientific discipline, QIHC

      • Shift: Will work nights, Sunday-Thursday 11p-730a with holiday rotation
      • Is on-call REQ? No
      • Radius rule? Yes, 60 miles. Are locals accepted? Yes, on a case-by-case basis
      • RTO Restrictions: All RTO must be included at time of submission. Approval will be based on department's/manager's needs.
      • Guaranteed Hours: Facility allowed to call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

        • Qualivis: Attestation required confirming work eligibility in the US and that Agency Staff does have a completed and accurate I-9 form on file.
